We have liftoff!
piffle! goes to space! Joining us on our trip we have juggler/podcaster/musical comedian Luke Burrage, author Paul Hawkins, and musical guest Katy Gunn. Our space cadets help us navigate blood in space, bad French accents, clueless astronauts, writing in the wrong language, stellar mid-life crises, juggling in space, Yuri Gagarin’s speech therapist and much more.
This will be the final episode for 2014! We’ll have new weekly shorts, but episodes will be back starting in January.
Born and raised in southern Arizona near the Mexican border, Katy Gunn was inspired at an early age by the mysterious desert landscape, her parents LPs of Shostakovich and Bach, and by British pop on American radio. From the age of two, she routinely stole her brother’s violin and practiced secretly in the old broom closet. Dropping out of high school, Katy left to study classical violin, and performed around the world as a soloist and concert master until deciding to move on and pursue her own musical language. Katy is now based in Berlin and Brooklyn, her latest project, Teenage Love, with Danish Songwriter Anna Lidell is set to release an EP in early 2015.
Luke Burrage is a juggler, musician, photographer, and podcaster. He makes his money doing one to fund a lifestyle that supports the others. And that one is juggling. Luke performs on cruise ships, festivals, and variete theaters around the world. His show has taken him to all 7 continents, including Antarctica. Luke is also the creator and voice behind the Science Fiction Book Review Podcast, which recently celebrated 250 episodes! As a musician, Luke’s musical comedy act was a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this past August where he enjoyed a successful 22 day run.
Paul Hawkins is a freelance comedy writer from England with a head full of questionable ideas, curiosity in his bones, and a background in film. He is mostly poor, and will probably remain so forever because the Internet killed books. He has written magazine features, articles, graffiti, script reports, short films, online games, website copy, and posters, and once broke an industry record for falling asleep on a film set in the role of a Script Supervisor. Paul is the author of The Hipster Guide and co-author of Denglisch for Better Knowers and the upcoming How to be An Adult.
